Mt. Pinatubo, Tarlac Zambales

Mt. Pinatubo

Mt. Pinatubo is regarded as one of the most popular destinations in the country.
Long after its historic 1991 eruption, Mt. Pinatubo has become a place worth traveling to, most especially for people yearning for adventure.

Located between Pampanga, Zambales and Tarlac, Mount Pinatubo lies 87 km (54 mi) northwest of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The most common jump-off point is in Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac. Mt. Pinatubo boasts of a landscape covered in lahar and boulders, with valleys that serve as home to Aeta Tribesmen. The gem of Mt. Pinatubo, however, is its crater lake, which lies at the end of a 2.5-hour trek.

Board a old 4×4 Filipino Jeep and enjoy a thrilling drive across Crow Valley, a moon-like terrain, with vast ash fields and rocky rivers.

Hike up towards the summit passing through sandy cliffs and up a single trail mountain path.
The hike is beginner-friendly for families with children.

The landscape of lahar-filled boulders, towering valleys of stone and river streams offers a memorable trip.

The views of the Crater Lake are breathtaking and worth every minute of the trek.
The color of the water changes from blue green to deep blue depending on the season.

Indeed, Mt. Pinatubo is a beautiful destination carved from nature’s fury and destruction worth visiting.

History
In 1993, Caliraya was exclusive to a certain assembly under the regulation of Word of Life but it became a center for missionaries, and accepted missionary clients only to avoid commercializing the place. The resort only had five rooms which could accommodate two or three people. The place then was sold to Tiffany Tower Realty Corp. which Tiffany developed and continued the unfinished projects of the Word of Life. In February 1995, Caliraya held its grand opening to the public with three conditions: no smoking, no drinking and a compulsory Bible study. Currently it is operated by Caliraya Resort Club, Inc. Now, it can accomodate up to 1500 people for overnight stay and day tours.
